ASHLY AUDIO Inc.

Ashly Company History

Ashly Audio was founded in 1974 by a group of recording engineers, concert sound professionals, and electronic designers. The first products were elaborate custom consoles, complete with built-in electronic crossovers, compressor-limiters, and parametric equalization.

Ashly's first customers were friends and associates, but business quickly spread to new clients. As more consoles were manufactured, the demand continued to grow and so did Ashly. The company overwhelmed several manufacturing facilities in a short time and there were hard business lessons along the way.

Because Ashly was still relatively small, customers expected that they could customize each console to personal tastes but this became more impractical as the company grew. Meanwhile, the company received numerous requests for separate, rack-mountable versions of the mixer's on-board processors. Ashly decided to market these individual rack-mounted products only, instead of the larger custom consoles. The processing products were very successful and promoted further growth. The standard product line let us get organized.

In 1982, Ashly introduced the first commercial power amplifiers using power MosFet technology. These amplifiers were an overnight success because the MosFets allowed an amplifier design with the ruggedness necessary for demanding professional use combined with the sonic qualities of an audiophile amplifier. The line has been expanded greatly over the years and now accounts for a large portion of Ashly's sales. Ashly amplifiers were among the very first to be approved by Lucasfilms for the popular THX movie theater sound systems.

In 1988, the introduction of new mixers brought Ashly full-circle. These mixers were not the large, custom designs from the company's founding days, but a series of smaller units which placed many of the concepts of the large consoles in a standard rack-mount package for the sound contractor.

In 1998, Ashly Audio entered the digital signal processing age by introducing the Protea Series Digital Signal Processor. Complementing our industry-standard GQX, MQX, and PQX graphic and parametric equalizers, the new Protea Series offered unparalelled digital equalization power, with a 24-bit resolution, master/slave operation via two available slave units, full MIDI implementation, remote control for all setup operations, and, --- among other features --- a truly unprecedented user interface that perfectly combines the best of analog feel and digital control. This year, we offer the further-refined Protea System II which now includes the new 2- and 4-channel parametric slave units.

The philosophy established from the very beginning was to offer only the highest quality audio tools at the lowest possible cost to the professional user. All products would be engineered for manufacturing simplicity, and therefore be reliable and easy to service as well. Today, Ashly remains committed to these principles, and is known for the most reliable professional audio products available.

Ashly's exclusive Five Year Worry-Free Warranty remains one of the most liberal policies available on any commercial-grade product. The warranty covers every product with the Ashly brand name, and it is offered at no extra cost to the customer

Whether you need mixers, compressor-limiters, equalizers, crossovers, or power amplifiers, take a look at Ashly. Listen to our product. Look at its construction. Call us any time for information or application help. We'll impress you. Ashly Audio produces Audio Tools for the True Professional.
